PTE Academic Overall Score Calculator 2026

Estimate your overall PTE Academic score (10–90) from the four communicative skills. The calculator returns the rounded average plus the equivalent IELTS band.

How PTE Academic scoring works

PTE Academic uses an automated scoring system across 20 task types. Each task contributes to one or more communicative skills (Listening, Reading, Writing, Speaking) and to enabling skills (grammar, oral fluency, pronunciation, spelling, vocabulary, written discourse). Scores range 10–90.

PTE score for Australia visa

From 7 August 2025, the Department of Home Affairs uses new PTE Academic score requirements that set a separate minimum for each skill rather than one number for all four. For example, Competent English now needs at least Listening 47, Reading 48, Writing 51 and Speaking 54. Check the current Home Affairs English requirements for Proficient and Superior English before booking.

How is the PTE Overall Score Calculated?

Your PTE Academic overall score is calculated based on your performance across all test items, which are mapped to your communicative skills: Listening, Reading, Speaking, and Writing. The overall scale ranges from 10 to 90 points based on Pearson's automated scoring algorithm.

Understanding PTE Communicative Skills

• Cross-Skill Scoring: Unlike other tests, tasks in PTE often test multiple skills simultaneously (e.g., "Read Aloud" scores both Speaking and Reading).
• Overall Score: Your official overall score comes from your performance on every item, so it is not always exactly the average of your four skill scores. This calculator gives a close estimate.
